Satisfaction survey software and csat survey tool comparison: the four things that actually differ

Every product in this category writes a survey, sends it and shows a score, and the demos are therefore almost identical. The differences that matter afterwards are elsewhere: whether the answers stay attached to the customers who gave them, whether the follow-up work has anywhere to live, what happens to your data when you stop paying, and whether the price still makes sense at the volume you will actually reach.

Does an answer stay attached to a customer

This is the question that separates a survey tool from a feedback record. If the product can tell you in October which customers gave you a low score in June and whether anybody replied to them, it is a record. If it can only show you June's average, it is a dashboard, and you will end up exporting to a spreadsheet to do the actual work.

Where does the follow-up live

Somebody has to work the unhappy answers, and that work needs a state: who owns it, whether they replied, when. Tools that stop at reporting leave this in an inbox, which is where it dies. It does not have to be elaborate; it has to exist, and it has to be visible to the person who will be asked in three months whether anything was done.

What happens when you stop paying

Ask before you start. Some products keep responses hostage behind the subscription; the answers your customers gave you should be exportable in a plain format on demand. This matters more here than in most categories, because the value of feedback is cumulative and losing two years of it resets everything you know.

How the price behaves as you grow

Per-response pricing punishes exactly the thing you are trying to do, which is ask more people more often. Per-seat pricing punishes involving the people who could act on the answers. Flat pricing is rarer and it is the one that does not make you ration the work; Csatzo Pro is $17 a month for the whole business for that reason.

Questions people ask about satisfaction survey software

What should satisfaction survey software cost?

Less than the time it saves. Watch the shape as much as the number: per-response and per-seat pricing both tax the behaviour you want.

Is a CSAT survey tool different from a survey tool?

Mostly in defaults. A CSAT tool arrives with the scale, the timing and the reporting already shaped for customer satisfaction, which saves setup and constrains you slightly.

Can we just use a general form builder?

For asking, yes. What you will miss is the answers staying attached to customers and any state on the follow-up, which is the part that decays into a spreadsheet.

Does Csatzo publish benchmarks?

No. A benchmark is a measurement of other companies' customers and this site holds none of them.
